HAWS SECURE QUARTER-FINAL PLACE WITH CONVINCING A WIN

Haws moved one step closer to cup success with a composed 2–0 victory over St Andrews United.
The match began at a lively tempo, with both sides creating early opportunities. However, it was Haws who struck first in the sixth minute. A well-timed through ball forced a save from the St Andrews goalkeeper, but Sam Featherstone reacted quickest to slot the rebound neatly into the corner, giving Haws an early advantage. St Andrews responded positively and continued to press, but Haws goalkeeper Blair dealt comfortably with the efforts that came his way. Haws doubled their lead in the 19th minute following a corner from the right. The cross was floated into the box, where Conor Scott, recently returned from loan, rose highest to guide a header beyond the goalkeeper. Chances were limited for the remainder of the first half, although St Andrews came close just before the break, striking the woodwork from distance.

St Andrews began the second half playing more direct football and briefly thought they had pulled a goal back in the 54th minute after converting a rebound. However, the effort was ruled out for offside.The intensity increased as tackles flew in and several yellow cards were shown,s. Haws pushed for a third goal but were unable to break through a resilient St Andrews defence.
Haws managed the game effectively to see out the win and secure their place in the quarter-finals.
